FashionArtProjects.com sent me some tote bags a while ago, and I’ve had some fun playing with them. For this one, I made an easy striped bag using some fabric paint and tape. Here’s how:
- Iron your tote bag so all the wrinkles and creases are gone.
- Put the tape on the bag. I painted both sides of mine so I taped both sides at the same time. I thought it would be fun to have different sized stripes, so I didn’t space the tape on evenly. It’s your choice! Make sure to press the tape down firmly. You can see where I messed up on this on my bag. Oh well. Sometimes the imperfections give things more personality, right?
- Using fabric paint and a brush, paint the tote bag where the tape doesn’t cover. Let dry. If you’re painting both sides, flip bag and paint the other side. Let dry again.
- Carefully peel off the tape. You’re done!
Now you have an easy and fun new bag! I think mixing colors would look great too! Happy painting!
